Why We’re Here
In all candor, we developed this website because we believe that many Internet users need a single website that can alert them to unethical and fraudulent sites before they become victims. In naming these sites by either their URL or specific category, we will show you how they take advantage of people by unmasking their questionable marketing practices. In so doing, we may at time provide ‘links’ to other sites that detail specific offenders and provide contact information to reporting agencies. There will NEVER be a charge for this service although we may, in the future, accept advertising from or even recommend legitimate, ethical websites operating within our listed categories.
High Risk Websites Defined
As we define them, any website designed to take advantage of you emotionally or financially, either through unethical marketing practices or outright fraud, should be defined as a high risk website. And while websites that deliver viruses, spyware or malware of any kind are just as high risk, they are better covered on the web through existing information and anti-virus/anti-spyware programs. Our concerns here are websites that are a bit more subtle, but definitely should be avoided unless you understand what their game is. In simpler terms, “a high-risk website is any site that purports to be or do one thing, but really does another with the intention of misleading the user.”
High Risk Website Categories
First, understand that our list of categories will continually expand as more and more high-risk websites are discovered and added. However to begin with, we will identify these sites under the following categories:
1. Dating and Matchmaking Websites
2. Loans, Credit & Mortgage Modification Websites
3. FREE Websites that are anything but free
4. Websites that sell products or services that are misrepresented.
5. Websites that upload unwanted pop-ups which are difficult or impossible to delete.
